About the role:

As a Database Engineer, you will partner closely with application development teams to design, build, and optimize data storage and access layers for data-intensive applications. This role focuses on proactive database design, performance, and scalability throughout the software development lifecycle and is not a traditional database administration role.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Partnering with application development teams to support data-intensive applications
  • Designing schemas, optimizing queries, indexing, and access patterns
  • Advising on appropriate database technologies based on application requirements
  • Establishing and enforcing database standards for design, security, and access
  • Conducting performance and stress testing in collaboration with engineering teams
  • Troubleshooting database-related issues in non-production environments
  • Collaborating with database administration teams to ensure infrastructure readiness

 

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • 3–5 years of experience with SQL Server or other relational databases
  • 1–3 years of experience with NoSQL platforms such as MongoDB or Elasticsearch
  • Strong knowledge of database design, data modeling, and normalization
  • Experience with ORMs, scripting languages, and DevOps practices
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
